If you are a parent or family member of a teen or young adult, you may also benefit from supportive counselling. When your child is struggling with their mental health, some of the challenges for you - as a family member -  are getting the information and resources you need to understand what is happening for your loved one, and learn skills to help your child cope with intense emotions, such as fear and confusion that may arise.

Some topics addressed in family sessions include:

  • Education on mental health issues, such as anxiety, depression, self-harm, addictions
  • Parenting strategies to help you and your loved one develop positive coping skills to manage intense emotions
  • Boundary setting when your loved one is abusing substances and/or struggling with their mental wellness
  • Service navigation and advocacy to ensure that your teen or young adult’s mental health needs are being met
  • Supportive counselling for siblings impacted by mental health and/or substance abuse
